One of my favorites the legendary Tom T Hall at the Peterborough Country Music Festival (UK) 1983, sings a varied set and I was able to be there to see it. A great performance.

Rest in peace, George Jones (September 12, 1931 -- April 26, 2013). Thank you for the music! _______________________________________ There's just something about this video that almost makes me want to cry every time I watch it. So many of the country greats are gone and, like George, I wonder, "Who's gonna fill their shoes?" Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes? Written by: Max D. Barnes; Troy Harold Seals You know this old world is full of singers But just a few are chosen To tear your heart out when they sing Imagine life without them All your radio heroes Like the Outlaw that walks through Jessi's dream. No, there will never be another Red-headed stranger A Man in Black and Folsom Prison Blues The Okie from Muskogee Or Hello, Darling Lord, I wonder who's gonna fill their shoes? Who's gonna fill their shoes? Who's gonna stand that tall? Who's gonna play the Opry And the Wabash Cannonball? Who's gonna give their heart and soul To get to me and you? Lord, I wonder who's gonna fill their shoes? God bless the boys from Memphis Blue Suede Shoes and Elvis Much too soon left this world in tears They tore up the Fifties Old Jerry Lee and Charlie And "Go, Cat, Go!" still echoes through the years. You know the heart of country music Still beats in Luke the Drifter You can tell it when he sang I Saw the Light Old Marty, Hank, and Lefty Why, I can feel them right here with me On this Silver Eagle rolling through the night. Who's gonna fill their shoes? Who's gonna stand that tall? Who's gonna play the Opry And the Wabash Cannonbal?l Who's gonna give their heart and soul To get to me and you? Lord, I wonder who's gonna fill their shoes? Yes, I wonder, who's gonna fill their shoes?...

"Wings of a Dove' is a country song written by Bob Ferguson in 1958. "Wings of a Dove" was most popular when it was recorded by Ferlin Husky in 1960. The Ferlin Husky recording went to number one on the country charts for ten non consecutive weeks. It was Ferlin Husky's third and final number one on the country chart spending nine months on the chart. "Wings of a Dove" was successful on the pop charts as well, peaking at number twelve on the Hot 100. In 1987, Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) awarded Ferguson with the "million air" plays for the "Wings of a Dove." The song alludes to several passages from the Christian Bible about doves sent by the Lord, including a verse about God sending Noah a dove during the flood in Genesis 8:6-12, and another passage about a dove in Matthew 3:16 where "After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him."

Lyrics: In a little cabere In a south texas boarder town Sat a boy and his guitar And the people came from all around And all the girls From there to Austin Were slippin' away from home And puttin' jewlery and hopped to take the trip To go and listen To the little dark-haired boy who played the Tennessee flat top box And he would play Well he couldn't ride or wrangle And he never cared to make it down But give him his guitar And he'd be happy all the time And all the girls From nine to ninety Were snappin' fingers Tappin' toes And beggin' him don't stop And hypnotized And fasinated By the little dark-haired boy who played the Tennessee flat top box And he would play Then one day he was gone And no one ever saw him 'round He vanished like the breeze They forgot him in the little town But all the girls Still dreamed about him And hung around The cabere until the doors were locked And then one day On the hit parade Was the little dark-haired boy who played the Tennessee flat top box And he would play
